You Got Served
What do you think the limit of social networking is? I bet you didn’t know it would go as far as legal papers being filed on Facebook. Consolidation of Print
TechTarget has laid off approximately 75 employees and ended the print edition of Information Security Magazine and Storage Magazine. This layoff confirms the ever shrinking world of print editions and outlets only hosting on-line editions. With operations continually layoff employees and current circulation editions page count shrinking to a cover story and a few ads the time is coming when very few will be printed.
This trend has been primarily in the technology sector, but if technology trends are accurate commercial and retail sectors will be affected next. I can understand the diminishing need of tech magazines, because the visual interaction is not overly impacting, but this is still a concern for members of the press and how it will change the way they work and be productive.
Will there be a point when news is purely aggrigated? I can see it coming because of the increasing number of news aggrigation sites and popularity of RSS. Another example of how the ways we work are changing.
